Our Vision Clear Windshield Treatment: How Does it Work?

Anyone who has ever driven through a torrential downpour can attest that it is a dreadful experience. Crawling along the highway at 40 under the speed limit, hazards flashing, wipers squeaking nervously across the windshield…it’s a challenge for even the most experienced driver.

In situations like this – or even during smaller storms – a proper windshield treatment works wonders. Instead of leaving your wipers to do all the work, your windshield naturally repels water! It’s a great option that’s quick, easy, and doesn’t cost much.

How The Treatment Works

Your wipers use a rubber squeegee-like part to move water across your windshield, pushing it out of your field of view. Unfortunately, though your windshield’s glass may appear shiny and smooth, it actually has lots of tiny scratches, bumps and imperfections that you can’t see. Even the best wipers struggle to work perfectly on this rough surface.

The Vision Clear windshield treatment works by filling those gaps with an invisible, waxy substance. Application is simple: we spray it on your windshield, then buff it off with a soft non-scratching cloth. Your glass may look slightly hazy at first, but the treatment cures quickly.

With those gaps filled in and the surface made smooth, water simply beads up and rolls off of your windshield! In lighter rain, you might not need your wipers at all; in heavier rain, your wipers will work much more effectively.

Maintenance and Reapplication

Our Vision Clear windshield treatment can last several weeks to a month before reapplication, but for peace of mind – or if you’re on our Express monthly wash plan – you can reapply it as often as you like. The exact duration of the coating depends on your driving conditions.

To make your coating last as long as possible, make sure your wipers are in good condition. Look for leaves and debris trapped under the blades, and check every so often to make sure the rubber parts haven’t split or cracked. These situations leave micro-scratches on your windshield that reduce the coating’s effectiveness
